Although the concept of yin & yang goes back to at least 400 years before Christ, the actual symbol — the taijitu — shows up in China around the 1100s or so.

But, funnily enough, it was a military symbol in the Roman Empire in the 400s. Which is kind of strange.

Holy Roman yin-yangs, basically.

I just thought it was interesting.
