So, at the
aforementioned thing, My Academic Spouse got turned on to this online adoption education resource:
http://www.adoptionlearningpartners.org/
"Resource?" Right. It's a site that has
courses you kind of read through, discuss and think about. If you want a certificate, you give them $30, but if you just want to figure out things about parenting that your parents probably didn't have to deal with, it's free.
Apparently the stuff about behavior and attachment is pretty interesting.
Adoption Learning Partners is based in Illinois and affiliated with an adoption agency called The Cradle that I'd never heard of, so if you're connected with them, you can get free certifications. Apparently, they're hoping to link up with other outfits (thus "partners" in the name) to become a juggernaut of adoption education.
Whether you are contemplating adoption, you are already an adoptive family or if you are an adopted person or birth parent, you'll find a wealth of resources within each course.... Are you a social services professional? These courses will enrich your already vast experience and will give you another tool to help your clients throughout the adoption process.
